2008 Mustang GT500 Papercraft

In the 1960's automotive designer Carroll Shelby teamed with the Ford Motor Company to produce high performance Mustangs with the labels "GT350" and "GT500". These "Shelby Mustangs" ended production in 1970. It wasn't until 2007 that Shelby and Ford teamed again to produce a car with the GT500 label. This detailed paper model is of a 2008 Mustang GT500. Deformed Paper Toy Car: Pontiac

This deformed car paper toy is a custom design by illustrator Rory Phillips using the car template at the Portland Paper City website. The car is labeled "Pontiac" on the side, but I am unsure what model or year of Pontiac it might be. My guess is it's a Pontiac Catalina from the early 60's or perhaps a conglomeration of several different cars. Rory's template for the car may be downloaded here.

Volkswagen Paper Models

A Brazilian website has six different Volkswagen papercraft available for download. Three of the paper models are of the Golf, Volkswagen's small family car which has been produced since 1974. The other three models are of Volkswagen Type 2 microbuses with skylight windows on their roofs. Each of the paper cars has a different paint scheme. Race Car Papercraft: Aston Martin DBR9

Aston Martin made its return to international racing in 2005 with the DBR9. The return was a success with the DBR9 winning its debut race. In 2006 Milos Harant designed this finely detailed 1:18 scale paper model of the 2005 DBR9. A download of the template and instructions for the building the model are available here. Also available is a template of the 2008 racing season DBR9 which has a light blue rather than green color scheme.

Nissan Papercraft Bonanza

The official website of Nissan Japan offers downloads of seventeen different paper model vehicles. Residents of the US will be familiar with some of the cars such as the Cube and the Murano (top row in the photo). However, other cars such as the Kix and the Otti (bottom row in the photo) are virtually unknown in the American market. Downloads of all seventeen paper car templates are available here in both PDF and GIF formats. In addition to the cars pictured above, there are also templates available for a Fairlady Z, a Teana, a Skyline, and the unusual Pivo 2 concept car.

Hot Wheels Scale Movie Vehicles Papercraft

Papercrafter Dave Winfield has an amazing collection of Hot Wheels scale papercraft cars available for download on his website. In addition to papercraft recreations of actual Hot Wheels toy cars from the the late 60's, Dave also offers small scale papercraft cars from movies and television. Pictured above (starting in the upper left and moving clockwise) are the Mystery Machine van from the Scooby Doo television show, Korben Dallas' flying taxi from the science fiction movie The Fifth Element, Snot Rod from the Disney Pixar movie Cars, and finally the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman movie. Halo Papercraft: Warthog Military Vehicle

While I was digging around James Bowen's site for the previous post I came across this papercraft from the Halo series of video games. It is a M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle, more commonly known as a "Warthog". Pretty neat, eh? This is the first Warthog paper model I have seen and with a template at only 2 pages and 30 parts, it should not be that difficult to build. The template is located here.

Dragon Wing Tattoo Smart Car Papercraft

"Mad Mike" at the Smart Forum, an online forum for German owners of Smart Cars, has created a Smart Car papercraft based on digital photographs of his very own car. Mike's car has been customized with what he calls "dragon tattoos". I am still curious how he was able to photograph the reflective roof of the car without himself showing up in the reflection. Papercraft Porsche 917 Race Cars

At 1:87 scale (also known as HO scale), these papercraft Porsche 917 race cars are slightly smaller than toy Hot Wheels cars. The paper model Porsches are a free download offered by motografica.de, an German image database of historic racing and sports cars from 1920 to 1980. The single page template includes four cars, each with a paint scheme based on a different historic 917 from the early 1970's. Click on the template image here to download.

Car Papercraft: Clark Kent's '53 Nash Healey

In the 1950's American television show, Adventures of Superman, Superman's alter ego Clark Kent drives a snazzy Nash Healey sports car. In 2006, Richard Taylor created a papercraft version of the car, complete with a Clark Kent figure to go in the driver's seat. The two page template for the paper model may be found here and here.

Toyota 2000GT Papercraft

The Toyota 2000GT was produced in very limited quantities from the late 60's to the early 70's, but it quickly put Toyota on the map as a serious competitor in the realm of sports car design. This finely detailed papercraft model of the 2000GT was designed by Shinya of Japan. Hand Drawn Citroën 2CV Paper Models

Considered by many to be the French counterpart of the German Volkswagen Beetle, the Citroen 2CV had a production run from 1948 till 1990. On the left is the standard 2CV and on the right is the "camoinette" or small truck version. Both of these apparently hand drawn paper models are the creation of Swiss art professor Christof Schelbert. To download the templates click on the photos here.

Maserati Race Car Papercraft

The Maserati 250F was the car that Juan Manuel Fangio drove to victory in the 1957 World Championship. This paper model of the race car was created by Grand Prix enthusiast Paul Cheard using Adobe Illustrator. Cheard estimates that the ten piece model takes about 3 to 4 hours to build. 70's Lamborghini Papercraft

Despite the detailed appearance of this papercraft Lamborghini Countach LP400, it is actually a fairly simple build with only 26 parts. My favorite part of the model is that the template gives the option of having the headlights in either an open or closed position. Another nice touch is that there are three body color options: red, yellow and white. Created way back in 2000 by Japanese designer, Yasu Tanaka, the template for this 1:30 scale model is available for download here.

Jeep Cherokee Papercraft

I don't want to use the word "obsessed", but Japanese papercrafter Masanori Shimozato is definitely enthusiastic about Jeep Cherokees. Shimozato's papercraft webpage has models of what appears to be every color and trim package available for the 1996 Jeep Cherokee (and that includes both the US and Japanese versions of the vehicle!). Bowler Wildcat 200 Papercraft

It has been a while since I posted a car papercraft. This hot looking off road racing vehicle is a Bowler Wildcat 200 which was originally produced in the UK by Bowler Off-Road LTD. Bowler Off-Road offers this papercraft on their website. In addition to eight different color schemes for the Wildcat papercraft, they also offer a papercraft model of a Bowler Spirit Race Truck. 1960's Batmobile Paper Toy

This paper toy was modeled after the Batmobile that appeared in the 1960's Batman television series. The boxy shape is due to the fact that it is a customization of the "Foldskool" paper toy template by Marshall Alexander. The template for this Batmobile is the creation of paper toy designer Matthijs Kamstra [aka MCK] and may be found on his website here.

Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Paper Model

This 2" (5 cm) long Scooby Doo Mystery Machine van and ruined castle wall backdrop were created by Gary Williams and Craig Griswold in 2002 for use with the D6 Role-Playing Game System by West End Games. Included in the same PDF template as the van and the wall are cutouts of all the Scooby Doo characters. The PDF may be downloaded here. Also available are templates of an uncolored haunted bungalow model and a 3D interior of Doctor Who's TARDIS.

Camo Jaguar Papercraft

This two piece papercraft Jaguar comes from the company website (Japanese version) of British fashion designer Sir Paul Smith. What at first appears to be a typical camouflage paint scheme on closer inspection is actually overlapping silhouettes of women reminiscent of the typical opening credits of a James Bond film. Steak 'n Shake '64 1/2 Mustang Paper Model

Several weeks ago I stopped at a local Steak 'n Shake restaurant and found out they were giving away free paper car models with their kids meals. The cars looked pretty awesome so I had to get my hands on one. ^-^ The construction of the cars is glueless, relying on tabs to keep them together. I researched the company that produces the cars, Kid Stuff Marketing, Inc., and found they offer a line of 19 antique car models, everything from a Pontiac Bonneville to a Ford Edsel Pacer. You can take a look at their models here. Sorry no free downloads, but they do offer cases of 120 unfolded cars for a price if you just can't live without them. ^-^
