It starts with the first sale of a wireless drive.

If you have long wanted to connect an external drive without using a USB-cable, then it is your time. Imation Corp has announced the beginning of sales of the first wireless hard drive with USB - Pro WX. The system works the same as that of any USB-drive, with one exception - the cable is not needed.

Wireless USB technology was developed nearly five years. Transfer by air, according to Imation, reduces the speed. Thus, Pro WX will offer tolko120MB/sek read 15MB/sek record, which is three times smaller than that of plug hard drives with USB 2.0. That is, to record one CD-ROM (about 800MB), will need about 50 seconds. However, the new handles 1.5 TB memory.

Among other things, Imation Pro WX can go into sleep mode to save energy, and back up after pressing a single button. Device is compatible with the systems PC and Mac, and will cost $ 450.
